In the old parish of Montalvo, in 1968-1969, a group of residents came up with the idea of setting up a savings and credit cooperative that would be managed by the local residents.
In the meantime, San Antonio has become one of the larger members of the CAAP, with 60 staff and 27,000 customers mainly involved in agriculture in the region.
The Cooperativa de ahorro y crédito San Antonio Ltda Los Ríos has meanwhile become a reference in the province of Los Ríos.
