DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is located in Central Africa and is the largest country in the continent after Algeria. Thanks to the humid, tropical climate and fertile soil, the agricultural area has enormous potential. The landscape is characterised by rivers, mountains and a great deal of tropical rainforest, which provides precious woods. The country is rich in natural resources such as gold, diamond, copper, cobalt - the basic raw material in reusable batteries - and coltan for the production of mobile phones, laptops, etc.

Despite all these economic assets, no less than 80% of Congolese live below the poverty line. They work in the informal economy and earn about USD 100 to USD 150 per month. Healthcare is a major issue: it is not affordable for a large part of the population and facilities are limited.
