Together with Fredrick Wanyama of Maseno University in Kenya, Patrick Develtere conducted the first ever Africa-wide research project on cooperatives in Africa. Their 2008 book, 'Cooperating Out Of Poverty – The Renaissance of the African Cooperative Movement' was published by the International Labour Office and the World Bank Institute. Together with a team of 18 researchers they are doing this exercise and are now finalizing their investigation into the current state of play of the African cooperative scene.
