What is the meaning behind the BRS Logo?

The three human figures form the symbol for a community. Humans as self-reliant and independent beings, but humans who are socially aware, who give their attention to the world and their fellow human beings. Humans who look ahead and build upon their future.

When was the BRS founded?

The Belgian Raiffeisen Foundation was set up in 1992. The impetus was the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the former CERA Bank, a financial institution with cooperative roots.
BRS came into being because the cooperative principles established by Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen continue to be relevant in the 21st century.

How is BRS organised?

BRS has a small team of professionals that are guided by the Board of Directors. BRS can count on Cera for support in administrative, accounting and communication matters.

Thanks to the efforts by and support of various partners and numerous volunteers (BRS Members, Cera4BRS, KBC steunt BRS [KBC supports BRS], BRS Institute, KBC4BRS), BRS is able to develop professional support for its projects in the South.

How does BRS provide support?

BRS itself does not offer microcredits or microinsurance, but it helps microfinance and microinsurance projects with a cooperative spirit in Africa and Latin America. For us, financial support goes hand in hand with providing advice, training and tools. This is all based on our unique practical experience and up-to-date knowledge of (cooperative) banking and insurance.
